Semi-trailers, trailers and lafettes – end-to-end visibility in cargo operations
Although semitrailers are not entirely considered unpowered units, the challenges for this type of object from the standpoint of uninterrupted visibility are numerous. On the one hand, the complete visibility, entry and exit registration for partial load transports, as well as the visibility of detached units during inventory is decisive in order to keep track of the entire fleet. Especially for trailers, movement without power supply can ocurr while traveling loaded on rail carts – a problem for conventional telematics units. On the other hand, despite the fact that certain trailers are not used in intermodal transport, a possibility of theft remains. Concealed units with excellent short-cycle positioning can help identify a theft in a timely manner and locate the unit’s position.
